Hi Derek, nice post, thank you 🙂 I fully agree that the status of art needs to rise from a parenthesis to a necessary aspect of human life and well-being. But I would say that great art and great science are both… great 🙂 From greatness, which means from our transcendent self, all actions are infused with that elevating quality of truth, regardless of how they are valued by our particular society. There can be greatness in sweeping the streets, as much as in painting a masterpiece or coming up with a most beautiful solution to a mathematical conundrum, if those actions come from a deep level of awareness.
That is my take anyway, and it has required letting go of some personal preferences along the way, I assure you 🙂
